Additionally, Office 2011 itself will become insecure as Microsoft no longer provides important security updates for the suite. You may shrug your shoulders and (falsely) think Macs don't get viruses and are therefore secure, so whatever. This is a fallacy - Macs are not secure, there still isn't a Mac 'virus', but there are many other forms of attack especially if you use the internet/connect your Mac to a network. And Microsoft Office itself is an attack vector for the bad guys - they can create malicious Word/Excel/PowerPoint files that can crash your Office software and then run code on your computer which has the potential to take it over or install really bad stuff on it. So, the bottom line is that by continuing to use Office 2011 it is an ever increasing security risk to you, your computer and your data. You have three options: • and try to reduce the security risk • Remove Office 2011 and that is kept up-to-date • - as long as you are running or later Option 1: Continue To Use Office 2011 Microsoft have that they have not tested and will not test/support Office 2011 on or later. Although initial reports suggest Office 2011 works okay on macOS 10.13 a future macOS update or upgrade could render Office 2011 unusable and there would be no update to fix that. Although unlikely, even a security update from Apple for an older version of macOS / OS X could potentially break Office 2011.
